2010 Inter School ICT Competition





With the objective of creating a greater awareness among students on ICT (Information & Communications Technology), INTI International College Penang’s School of Computing and Information Technology (SOCIT) conducted a Quiz Competition which attracted 78 Forms 4 and 5 students from 11 leading schools in Penang and Butterworth.

Mr. Tinawin’s talk was highly informative, interlaced with interesting video clips on the future world of ICT. The speaker also highlighted that as the world grows ever more dependent on ICT, increasingly ICT is becoming the career of choice and ICT jobs are as solid as any of the other well-established professions. He also pointed out that Malaysia is experiencing an acute shortage of ICT graduates. As ICT is fast becoming the key-driver for the success and growth of every industry and every business in the global arena, Jes urged the students to be a part of this big picture and be “architects” of a smarter planet.


Following the talk, the results of the Quiz Competition were announced. Under the Group Category, Group A from SMJK Chung Ling emerged Champion. The winning group walked away with RM300 cash and a trophy. The first runner-up went to Group B, also from SMJK Chung Ling. The group received RM200 cash and a trophy and Group A from SMK Penang Free clinched the third prize of RM100 cash plus a trophy.


Under the Individual Category, the first prize was won by John Koh Mei Jin from SMJK Chung Ling. The “ICT Whizz-Teen” received RM200 cash and a Certificate of Excellence. The second prize of RM100 cash and a Certificate of Excellence was secured by Wong Chong Kai, from SMJK Chung Ling while Tan Soon Jin from SMK Penang Free received the third prize of RM50 cash plus a Certificate of Excellence. Amidst cheers and applause, the winning groups and individuals received their prizes, trophies and certificates from Dr. Michael Yap, Chief Executive/Principal of INTI International College Penang and Mr. Tinawin.

Student Based Conference 2009






Organised by INTIMA and INTI Strategic Professional in Reforming Education (InSPIRE), the 2nd Student Based Conference was successfully held on 10 October 2009 in INTI Multipurpose Hall, with its theme Shaping the Leaders of Tomorrow.


This one- day conference provided a platform for students to share their knowledge and perspectives in various area of studies. It gave opportunities to the students to be involved and to learn to produce high quality research works as well as to enhance the public speaking skills of students. Nevertheless, this conference encouraged the implementation of 3C concepts – Confident, Competent and Creative among students. These qualities are integral and essential in the making of a scholar and a leader.


On that day, 3 students from School of Computing and IT took the challenge as the presenters. They are Gary Lim Kong Yoew, Jezzrishaz Carr and Goh Su Phey. All of them did very well in presentation and subject content. Gary Lim was presenting on Cryptography in which he demonstrated cryptography applications and its use. Goh Su Phey was sharing ideas and method on how make money from Internet and Jezz was presenting on Game Development; the development methods and applications. The entire event was very fruitful as students from various field got an opportunity to share ideas and their inventions. Great Job Guyz!!! In short, this conference indeed gave a lot of benefits and valuable experiences to the participating students and audience.
